Review: N.Y.C. eyelash curler (compared with Shiseido)

Grip:

N.Y.C. has a nicer grip, less slip

Curvature:

N.Y.C. is flatter

Pad-wise for curling, I find that the N.Y.C. one is a little bit stiffer, but seems to curl well.

As seen below, it also has a spring

Fatal flaw? It doesn't close all the way. I'd only be able to curl my outer left eyelashes with this, or the inner right eyelashes... Not the most practical. Luckily it was only $1.99

Have you had this problem? Or is mine just defective?

Bought this in my frosty lipstick phase, I highly doubt I'll ever wear this alone now, unless I have a nice gloss on top

Pros

- Pigmented

- Not drying

- Scent reminds me of Swedish Fish candy (con for some)

Cons

- Bullet doesn't twist all the way in

- Flimsy packaging (cap comes off easily)

Verdict

Overall: B

If I remember correctly, this line of lipsticks with round bullet-shaped caps is supposed to be moisturizing. I don't find this particularly smooth or moisturizing, but it isn't drying. For a dollar, there's really not much you could ask for, although the texture of the E.L.F. $1 lipsticks (see review and swatches here) is smoother. 

I might go ahead and try N.Y.C.'s "Sheer Red," which is quite a popular color in this line.

Review & Swatches: N.Y.C. Liquid Lipshine

Shown in Brighton Beach Peach

Pros:

- Shiny-ish

- Not sheer but not pigmented (the perfect medium for me)

- Not your typical doe-foot applicator (doesn't pick up too much product)

- Non-drying

- Smells sweet

- Inexpensive

Cons:

- Could get frosty if you build it up

- Emphasizes lip lines after it settles in for a few hours (typical of lipglosses I feel like, but esp b/c this one has a lot of shimmer)

- Made in China (characteristic of all N.Y.C. makeup)

Verdict:

I would definitely recommend this color for the spring/summer, it's peachy without being orange. I actually wanted this to be a pale peach color but I think the color still looks nice.

N.Y.C. repackaged these, from their old ones that look like this.

Review & Lip Swatches: N.Y.C. Lip Sliders tinted lip balm

In Sugar Coated (pale pink, lightest shade)

Bare lips

Two to three layers

Pros:

- Pleasant scent (light, sweet)

- Buildable color

- Slightly glossy when builded up

Cons:

- In a tin (need a lip brush or finger to apply)

- Not super moisturizing, but not drying

Verdict:

As a lip balm, I do not recommend this, but if you're looking for a non-drying, sheer, buildable lip sheen, this is perfect. There are some darker colors from this line, I might try some other ones out if I ever need more tinted lip balms.

Review: N.Y.C. Mosaic Face powder

Pros:

- Pigmented (they actually reformulated this, the Peach and Bronze one are more creamy and pigmented than the Pink and Rose which I bought over a year before the 1st two)

- Mattifying

- Can be used as eyeshadows

- Very good value (see price) if used as blush

Cons:

- Made in China (some people are iffy about that, I'm neutral)

Verdict:

I highly recommend this as a blush, esp now that the formula is creamier and more pigmented. You can probably tell that I haven't hit pan on any of them despite the fact that I've had it for a long time, and that's because I've never hit pan on anything, I don't wear makeup often enough, lol but also because there's quite a bit of product in there.
