FOUNDATION | Revlon Youth FX SPF20

Thick texture

I bought this on a whim at CVS in New Orleans bc my face was getting darker than my BB creams/tinted SPF that I brought with me. Nude 200 matches pretty well without looking too yellow/orange (which tends to happen when I use a foundation that matches my neck). The coverage is pretty good without being cakey. It's very smooth but thick, almost like a BB cream. I have large pores around my nose and this did a good job covering them. I feel like the texture is too thick for summer, but it seems good for people who have larger pores or fine lines, as it goes on very smoothly.
This retails for $15 at Target for 1 oz, I think I paid $18 or something at the drugstore. The price is steep for drugstore, although Revlon's never been "cheap." If you have oily skin I wouldn't recommend this for summer.

DRUGSTORE | New Revlon and Almay Makeup

Volumnizing mascara
Eyeshadow (maybe new colors?)
Eyeliner - there's a ballpoint pen that I don't consider a clever concept, reminds me of the old Maybelline eyeliner that I bought (review here)
Antiaging primer, concealer, foundation
Tubing mascarar
If I wore blush I would totally get some, unfortunately I don't really wear a lot of face products outside of BB cream and powder.
I got darker on my trip in New Orleans (we were outside basically all day. Despite the overcast I still got darker) so I purchased a darker color in the Revlon Youth FX foundation.
I've used it a few times and I like it a lot! It's very silicone-y but has good coverage and blends out very nicely. Will post photos soon

The mascara is a tubing mascara according to the advertisement. Unfortunately, my thin, long lashes just don't do well with nonwaterproof mascaras. It seemed to not smudge much on my smudge prone eye area though, so if you don't have a problem with your lashes staying curled, the mascara might be pretty good

LIQUID LIPSTICK | Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Flirtation

Pros
Not drying
Pigmented

Neutral
Strong vanilla fragrance

Cons
NOT matte as advertised

Price
$8+ for 0.22 oz / 6.6 ml

Verdict
I was never really interested in liquid lipsticks even though they've been out for a while, but after trying the Kat Von D one (which as an amazing lightweight formula, review here), I now want to try more. I do have to say, whoever marketed this for Revlon definitely should've omitted the "matte" part bc this is creamy and satin if anything, the formula never fully dries unless you blot it.

Repurchase?
No.

Would I recommend it?
If you like the colors, it's a good product - just not matte

LIPS | Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya

Revlon Lip Butters have been around for a long time now, I've always wanted to try Juicy Papaya, but now I know why Target has these on clearance o_O
It's too sheer for my taste now, but still very moisturizing.

REVIEW | Revlon Volume+Length Magnified waterproof mascara

Typical mascara spoolie wand

Pros
Defining
Lengthening
Not clumpy

Cons
Doesn't really hold a curl

Price
$6+ for 0.28 oz / 8.5 ml

Verdict
Rating: C
I didn't see great reviews for this mascara or any of the new Revlon mascaras, but I found a $5 off coupon on Facebook, so this ended up being ~$1 plus tax for me. I actually think this isn't a terrible mascara... But it weighs my thin lashes down, so the length is basically useless when you can barely see your lashes. Unfortunately this is the first waterproof mascara I've tried that doesn't hold a curl, maybe it's the fibers.

Repurchase?
No.

Would I recommend it?
If you don't have problems keeping your lashes curled these might be ok

Revlon Parfumerie Wintermint

I love French tips because it's less obvious when your nails grow out.
With a good top coat (I use the Sally Hansen one) this can last me a week, sometimes I paint over the chips so it lasts me 2 weeks.

The Parfumerie line itself is actually pretty good, the scent is there (if you don't use a top coat) and it doesn't chip too quickly like some nail polishes I've tried in the past. I recommend trying this line if you see a color you like.

REVIEW | Revlon Ultra HD lipstick in Hibiscus

Pros
Moisturizing
Lightweight
Light sweet fragrance

Cons
Medium coverage
Not long lasting

Price
$8-9 for 0.1 oz / 3 g

Verdict
I notice a lot of moisturizing lipsticks may not be the most pigmented, but it feels great on the lips and the color is buildable. I really enjoy this lipstick due to the light sweet fragrance and also because Hibiscus is a bright-ish color but wearable when it's in a sheerer formula. Even though it's not long lasting, I noticed that I'm probably never going through an entire bullet of lipstick, so reapplications throughout the day won't use up the lipstick that much more quickly.

I've been loving corals lately as you can probably see from my previous lip product posts, can't wait to try more :)

Repurchase?
Yes.

Would I recommend it?
Yes. I've been reaching for moisturizing lipsticks more lately

REVIEW | Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm

In 235 Mischievous

Pros
Pigmented
Not drying
Creamy
Very light minty scent (con for some)
Twist up container

Cons
The pencil tip will eventually flatten
High maintenance

Price
$8 for 0.095 oz / 2.7 g

Verdict
I've been digging the pale orange lip because a really popular Chinese drama called Empress Wu has most of the actresses wearing this color. I think 235 Mischievous will work well on pale complexions, not sure about tanned skin. I noticed recently that the matte balm is a bit high maintenance, if I forget to exfoliate my lips it really exaggerates the dryness, which I guess is expected of a matte lip, so be careful wearing this on days you're feeling lazy like me.
I have the original Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (review here) which is more sheer and glossy. I would definitely try more colors from this line or the balm stains in general (they have Matte Balms like this, Balm Stains and Lacquer balms that are supposed to be very glossy) if I find unique colors that suit me.

Repurchase?
Considering the volume of new makeup products coming out each season I doubt it, but I really like these "balm stains," the Revlon ones especially because it smells minty.

Would I recommend it?
Yes.

Review: Revlon Grow Luscious eyeliner

(do they still sell this? I haven't paid attention)

Pros
- Pigmented
- Creamy
- Long lasting for a pencil

Cons
- Smudges slightly

$5-7 for 0.04 oz / 1.2 g

Verdict
As usual, smudging vary by person. If pencil liners have always worked well for you, this one is one of the better ones I've tried. However, if you have oily eyelids like myself, this will most likely still smudge. I enjoy pencil liners for its convenience and travel-friendly form. Plus it's harder to mess up since we're used to holding pencils and pens while writing.

If you're looking for an eyeliner that is smudge free, I recommend looking into waterproof liquid eyeliners such as the Revlon ColorStay (review linked here) or the Physician's Formula Eye Booster (review linked here). If you want a softer look, cream liners are worth looking into but for me they still smudge. My favorite as of late is the L'Oreal HiP Creme liner (review linked here), but the Wet n Wild $4 cream liner is probably the best in the drugstore in terms of wear (the pot dries out more quickly though, since it's plastic).

I think this whole lash-nourishing hype is probably a gimmick, but it gives me peace of mind.

Repurchase?
Yes.

Would I recommend it?
Yes, if you have normal to dry skin

Review & Swatches: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain in Charmed

Do you guys like these all in one pictures? Or do you like separate?

Pros
- Not drying
- Natural looking
- Twist up mechanism
- Smooth application
- Light minty scent (con for some)

Cons
- Not super long lasting
- Doesn't leave a "stain"

Price
$7-9 for 0.095 oz / 2.7 g

Verdict
Overall: A-
This is definitely a very wearable peachy nude that looks natural as if your lips are actually this color (as opposed as those matte nude lipsticks). The application is very smooth, no dragging or anything, and I love how these twist up and down so I don't have to sharpen it. I also love the mint scent in this, although it is very mild so people who don't like mint won't dislike it too much.

If it was actually as long lasting as stains are, this would be an amazing product.

A lot of people say these are dupes for the Tarte LipSurgence lip stains, but Revlon is much less expensive and more accessible. Just when you thought Revlon was done with coming out with amazing products...

Repurchase?
Yes.

Would I recommend it?
Yes. Unless you hate the smell of mint

Update + Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

Hello everyone!
Sooo I put this in my last blogpost but I forgot to write update in the title... But basically:

I am done with school for the summer!
Just finished my last final today, relieved but this semester really flew by. So some picture updates:

This is our pledge class t-shirt, not bad eh?

These people are people I pledged with for eight weeks plus our pledge educator :)

This is the morning after our initiation, we're actually not allowed to wear the Greek letters until we cross as Brothers

I joined Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business co-ed fraternity. For everyone that are not familiar with Greek life, don't judge these organizations too harshly until you go to their recruiting events.
Honestly, I was never interested in a social Greek organization, they're expensive, you hear about hazing, etc.

Buut, really, after you attend a university, go check these organizations out if you have time. It's not for everyone, but the way I thought about it... You'll only be able to join once in life, after college there's not that much that's similar to these kinds of Greek organizations.
I am not into partying, so I joined a professional organization. As far as I know, there are different ones for different majors, I've heard of ones for pharmaceutical, engineering, etc. But it all depends on your university.

However, if you are thinking of going to business, I definitely recommend Delta Sigma Pi :)
I go to a commuter school, and this is a great way to meet people and network.
Anywho, this is why I haven't blogged in so long, let me know if you have any questions! My email address and Formspring are on the side if you had any questions about this Greek organization.

Now onto the blogpost:

Sweet Tart (hot pink creme)

The bullet gets smeared on the rims of the lipstick tube, kind of annoying if you're a neat freak, but I'll get over it

Sadly, I am not confident enough to wear a color out like this, maybe when my acne gets better?
I was planning to return this, but after pledging started I kind of forgot about it, maybe I'll try it again and see how I feel.

Also, I purchased some new beauty products over this time period, can't wait to blog about them!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

Hi everyone!
Sorry I've been MIA for the past two months or so, I actually pledged for a professional business co-ed fraternity, and barely had time to deal with school.
But now that's done, I am just three weeks from being done with the spring semester (need to study for finals) and I'll probably be back to blogging!

There's quite a few new products that came out that I haven't tried, so when I get the chance I'll review those ^^

Now onto the post:

Peach Parfait (reddish peach with gold shimmer/glitter)

On my lips, it is a very wearable color (not nearly as red as it shows up in the swatches), but I don't really care for the gold glitter, and it kind of accentuates my lip lines as well.
I like the glaze these lip butters give, but I honestly don't wear lip products enough these days (actually, more like remember to bring them in my bag since I never have time to put on lip product in the morning at home)

Repurchase?
Other colors

Would I recommend it?
Not this color in particular

E.L.F. $1 Essential lipstick in Flirtatious + More Revlon Lip Butters

Flirtatious (bright almost-neon pink)
Sorry the lipstick bullet isn't as true to color in the photo, but the swatch is close

Unfortunately, this also looked less bright on someone else's blog, so I ordered it... Not a fan at all. I can't see myself wearing this anywhere. Maybe when my skin is clear I'll be able to pull this off with confidence.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters in:
(L to R)
Peach Parfait (peachy almost-red with gold shimmer)
Sweet Tart (bright pink creme)
Strawberry Shortcake (light pink with sheen)
My local Walgreens had these on sale and I finally found Strawberry Shortcake at Target when they restocked it

Sinful Colors nail polish in 322 Let Me Go
I thought this is a neat duo-chrome color

Review & Swatches: Revlon ColorStay Overtime Sheer lipcolor in Sheer Blossom

Gloss: brush, Lipcolor: doe-foot

Lipcolor

With gloss

Few hours later (after eating)
Pros
- Long wearing
- Light-medium coverage on lips (con for some)

Cons
- Settles fine lines of the lips
- Hard to remove (see verdict)
- Strange fragrance
- Slightly drying

Value
$6-9 for two 0.07 oz / 2 ml tubes
0.14 oz / 4 ml total

Verdict
Overall: B
This is the first time I've tried a long-wearing double-ended lipcolor, and I'm glad I got this on clearance. When first applied, sets into the lips and turns into almost a film on your lips, which would feel kind of dry without the gloss on top. I know this is a long-wearing lipcolor, but I couldn't remove it without rubbing at my lips several times with jojoba oil, and it also came off in little specks of pink, which I think is a little strange for a lip product.
It also has a strange fragrance, and although it's not strong, the pink side reminds me of paint, while the gloss side reminds me of metal spoons (if that makes sense to anyone).
Sheer blossom is a nice pink with more shimmer than the tube reveals, and is also not as sheer as I thought it would be, which is nice. I probably will only use the gloss from now on though because of the strange texture.

I think I will steer clear of these double-ended lipcolors and just stick with lipsticks, which have more creamy textures.

Repurchase?
No.

Would I recommend it?
Not in particular

New Drugstore Products: Maybelline, CoverGirl, Revlon

Target - Maybelline
I had to keep telling myself to get what I actually would use, which are the 24 hr cream shadows and the 24 hr lipsticks. Maybe I'll try the concealer and foundation some time? Hmmm...

Target - CoverGirl
Very disappointed in the Flipsticks, the color combinations are terrible...
They also repackaged their LashBlast mascaras and came out with a 24hr one, I think they're all pretty much the same... The cream shadows aren't anything new, but I've yet to try them after seeing bad reviews on makeupalley

CVS - Revlon
Excuse the slightly blurry pic, I'm excited for the foundations, eyeshadow and liner... Sales here we come?

Have you guys tried any of these products yet? What do you think?
Let me know in the comments :)
