Random Review: Eye Strain? Computer glasses

About two years ago, my eyes were getting really dry from constantly being on the computer or my phone, and I didn't want to depend on eye drops, so I looked into anything that would help with eye strain or dryness.

I read somewhere online that "computer glasses" exist, and is good for people who are on the computer constantly, and found some on Amazon. My first pair is in the following photo:

$38 on Amazon, still there if you look up computer glasses (as of July 2013)

These are SO worth it if you are on the computer constantly.
If you wear prescription-ed glasses, you can get the anti-glare feature on them for an additional cost. For me personally, I am nearsighted so I don't really need the prescription when I'm on a computer close up.

I've been wearing these every time I am on the computer, happy to say that my eyes are no longer dry, I can stand being on the computer for a longer period of time, and I think this is totally worth it for anyone who has a similar problem. Some people might say it's a placebo effect, but I never have to rub at my eyes now because they're dry. BUT, because it helps with eye strain doesn't mean it eliminates it. If you're on the computer for too long without moving around or looking around you will probably still have those symptoms, but more mild.

Amazon also has things that can cover your actual glasses if you wear glasses all the time, but I only wear prescription glasses when driving or in class so I got the anti-glare glasses.

After 2 years of use, the VS Eyewear ones in the 1st picture have become scratched up due to careless use and throwing it in my drawer of random things I don't clean that often (aka, the drawer underneath my desk), which affects my vision of the computer screen a little bit.
The other day, I randomly browsed on Amazon and found these: only $22! Larger lenses with a much more reasonable price in my opinion.

These Gamma Ray glasses are marketed for gamers, which makes sense since they spend much of their time in front of a TV or computer. This pair also has bigger lenses so I don't have to adjust the glasses on my face as much when looking at a larger screen or something up close.
As you can tell,  the lenses have an iridescent/rainbow quality to it which I think is supposed to help reflect the light from the LCD screen (the $38 has lenses are like that as well, the photo just didn't capture it in that lighting). I don't watch much TV but I think these help if you watch TV a lot too.

Iono about you guys, but I like the chic nerd look of these glasses. I've always wanted Wayfarer prescriptioned glasses but I haven't found any affordable ones that looks good on my relatively large face . Luckily I wear these glasses mostly at home so no one sees me in my less than attractive couch potato appearance.
I highly recommend looking into something like this if you're getting dry eyes or your eyes feel strained. I feel much better about reading and watching things on my laptop now. Hehe

I also saw online a brand named Gunnar sells computer eyewear for a much higher price, I am sure it's good quality but I am pretty happy with my $22 Gamma Rays from Amazon. If you search on Google, Walmart sells computer reading glasses too.

IMPORTANT:
These glasses doesn't really change your eye sight, I was expecting to see no glare or something but depending on the brightness of your screen or your background light you will still see reflections. If you feel like it's no different at first, wear it for a week or two and then decide on returning (Amazon I think has a 1 month return policy depending on your seller?) It's really over a long period of time that I felt a difference in my eyes.

NOTE: Don't forget to turn your brightness down as appropriate so you're not staring at a screen too bright for the dark room you're in, or vise versa. The contrast between the light on the computer and the room may also be a factor in why your eye is strained (more effort for your eyes to focus and adjust). I usually adjust mine so that it's not overly bright or dark.

My Month in Photos

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been blogging as much lately. I haven't really used too many new products and have been a bit busy with school starting up again. I do post pictures on Instagram though, follow me (username conniewxx) if you have it!

My newest phone case, I think it's adorable and I love the mint color
This is $32 from Nordstrom, I ordered online since they have free shipping & return. No wonder so many people shop at Nordstrom

Left: Another phone case I got... I think it's super cute BUT it's kind of inconvenient flipping the front all the time. Plus it is light colored leather and seems like it would get dirty easily

Right: Haircut... Not thrilled, I miss my old hair

Best grilled cheese sandwich ever! (First I've tried in a restaurant really. It was delicioso)

My 2nd time to the Cheesecake Factory, the dulce de leche milkshake (top left) was sooo good. But way too filling, I was dying on our way out of the restaurant (didn't finish my pasta either (top right)). The bottom two are what my friend ordered, but I thought I'd share it since...
Who doesn't like food? :)

Lastly... Have a good labor day weekend!
This is my current Facebook picture right now, I love this soft Winnie the Pooh :)

Update + Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

Hello everyone!
Sooo I put this in my last blogpost but I forgot to write update in the title... But basically:

I am done with school for the summer!
Just finished my last final today, relieved but this semester really flew by. So some picture updates:

This is our pledge class t-shirt, not bad eh?

These people are people I pledged with for eight weeks plus our pledge educator :)

This is the morning after our initiation, we're actually not allowed to wear the Greek letters until we cross as Brothers

I joined Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business co-ed fraternity. For everyone that are not familiar with Greek life, don't judge these organizations too harshly until you go to their recruiting events.
Honestly, I was never interested in a social Greek organization, they're expensive, you hear about hazing, etc.

Buut, really, after you attend a university, go check these organizations out if you have time. It's not for everyone, but the way I thought about it... You'll only be able to join once in life, after college there's not that much that's similar to these kinds of Greek organizations.
I am not into partying, so I joined a professional organization. As far as I know, there are different ones for different majors, I've heard of ones for pharmaceutical, engineering, etc. But it all depends on your university.

However, if you are thinking of going to business, I definitely recommend Delta Sigma Pi :)
I go to a commuter school, and this is a great way to meet people and network.
Anywho, this is why I haven't blogged in so long, let me know if you have any questions! My email address and Formspring are on the side if you had any questions about this Greek organization.

Now onto the blogpost:

Sweet Tart (hot pink creme)

The bullet gets smeared on the rims of the lipstick tube, kind of annoying if you're a neat freak, but I'll get over it

Sadly, I am not confident enough to wear a color out like this, maybe when my acne gets better?
I was planning to return this, but after pledging started I kind of forgot about it, maybe I'll try it again and see how I feel.

Also, I purchased some new beauty products over this time period, can't wait to blog about them!

My First Juicy Couture Tote

I purchased this off ideeli for $115 + shipping
I have to say... I can't see anyone buying this for the retail price, $228... Really? Even at $115 it seems overpriced for a bag that doesn't seem that sturdy; but I'll test it out to see whether it really is a flimsy piece.

The main problem with this bag is you can't really tell it's Juicy, not that I mind too much b/c carrying a designer bag around can sometimes seem a little conspicuous.

I do like the satin finish of this bag, and it's huge, definitely enough to fit my school materials. Because it is made mainly with fabric, the bag is very light on its own, so it won't add too much extra weight in addition to my folders and whatnot.

FYI: If you ever plan to order from ideeli, keep in mind you can't return a lot of things, so read the return policy first before making an impulsive purchase

New camera, finally.

Hi everyone,
I have been wanting this camera for over 3 months, and I finally got it yesterday :)
It was actually on a whim, I was breezing through Target to get to work n saw this and thought... Might as well.

It was $139.99 on sale but with my Target REDcard I got 5% off

... Me and my great picture-taking skills using my phone.

Anyway, I'm so excited! I played with this last night n took some pictures of stuff I can't believe I didn't post on here.

By the way, if you shop at Target frequently, I suggest you get their REDcard too, whether the debit card (the one I have) or the credit card, you save 5% on each trip.
And it's not like CVS where you get a coupon to save money, you get the discount right then and there, pretty cool right :)
I love going to Target for food and skincare products, so this will save me quite a bit of money :)

Till next time :)

Random Questions

Hi everyone, I just watched Blair's 17 Random Questions video and I kind of like some of the questions, so I'm going to do it :)

1. How did you get your youtube user name?
CJ was what I considered my initial to be, since my first name is Connie and Jessica is a middle name I made up (I don't legally have a middle name) and I love Winnie the Pooh, so cj hearts (x3) pooh :)

2. If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?
I would want to change it to Kristina or Crystal or something, because I really like those names. Maybe even Alyson, I have quite a few girl names that I like.

3. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be and why?
Try harder in high school. The classes you take especially sophomore and junior year are crucial. I was just kind of whatever about it and didn't do that well, and I am now at a state university, which isn't the worst, but I would rather be at a UC. That's advice I'd give to younger girls too! Even if you think oh I'll find some way to make money even if I don't get into a good college, it's still a good idea that you at least try.

4. How old were you when you first learned to blow a bubblegum bubble?
I honestly have no idea, it was never a huge thing for me.

5. What did you want to be when you were little?
When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher because I LOVED grading papers for some reason. As I grew older, I got the idea to be a doctor, optometrist, etc.
Now I just want to be an accountant, lol, simple.

6. What do you order at Starbucks?
I don't order the same thing all the time, but I usually order frappucinos. I rarely ever order a hot coffee or tea there because I've never been interested. I have been loving chai latte lately though, I wonder if Starbucks' is as good as Peet's.

7. What's the hardest you ever laughed?
I'm not sure about this one either, I don't remember something I laugh really hard at unless someone reminds me, lol.

8. If you could play any musical instrument, which would it be and why?
I already play the piano, but I would probably say... The flute, or maybe this Chinese instrument named 古筝 (Gu Zheng), if you search it up on google you'll probably see an image of it.
I just think it's very elegant.

9. What's your favorite thing to do when your upset?
Good question... I think I eat a lot, sweets, snacks, bring it on. There are times when I just waste time away online doing things I usually consider boring though.

10. What's your favorite movie?
Oh my gosh, there is far too many. I LOVE Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Up from Disney Pixar is my favorite animated film, Ocean's Eleven I think is absolutely brilliant, the Devil Wears Prada I could just watch a million times, Charlie's Angels is probably my favorite action movie, considering I'm not really into action films. Those are a few off the top of my head :)

11. What's one food you can not live without?
I've found that I don't absolutely love any type of food, because I eventually get tired of them. If I really had to choose though... Maybe Activia's vanilla yogurt, so good!

12. What's your favorite dessert?
Don't really have one, my family's not big into desserts, but mango pudding is delicious! (The one I get is basically vanilla/cream flavored pudding with chopped mango pieces on top)

13. Favorite pizza topping?
Hawaiian, although I like pepperoni too.

14. Would you rather have the superpower to read minds, or the superpower to be invisible?
Probably to be invisible, it's very convenient sometimes I feel like.

15. What did you do for your last birthday?
I went out with my friends to a buffet, nothing exciting b/c I didn't have a job (I mean, I wouldn't have thrown a party anyway) but maybe we would've actually done something. Lol

16. If you had one personal "selfish" wish, what would it be and why?
I'd probably ask for a lifetime of money, get it whenever. It is materialistic of me, but in times like this it's crucial -_- besides then I could buy all the makeup I want, lol.
Otherwise idk what other wishes I'd have

17. What does OMGHHKP mean to you?
Errr... Oh my god help her kill [insert name of insect that starts with p?] lol.

Sizzlin' Samurai?

Excuse the picture quality, I took it with my phone & the lighting wasn't the best -_-
My camera's battery was dead, so :(

It's in size Small, I'm usually a medium, but I saw on the measurements that their small bust, waist, and hip size fits me better (good thing I know my measurements, eh?)
The chest part is a little big, but it looks alright overall, it's actually not as short as it looks on the model (or I just have shorter legs)

This was on sale online at Target for $21 + $4.98 shipping + tax
In stores (or at least in the stores near me) it's $30 + tax, so I technically got a good deal, saved like $3 lol (would've saved more if I ordered more stuff from Target and got the $50 free shipping deal, but I didn't want to waste more money on stuff I didn't need; the ones I did want + this costume only added to like $38)

Anyhow, I'm planning to get a new camera, and I'm looking at Sony Cybershot DSC-W350

I'm undecided on the color though, silver, or blue?
I actually tried this camera in store so I know it autofocuses in video format, but the one in store was blue, and it was quite pretty too.

What do you think?

Till next time :)

New camcorder!

Hi everyone,
Sooo idk how I failed to blog about this, but I got a camcorder for my 18th birthday, which was a couple weeks ago (yay!)

Excuse the bad image quality, I took this at night & idk why it's like this, bad lighting.

Anyway, everyone,
May I present to you: the Canon FS300 camcorder

I wanted something that autofocuses on text, and obviously I wasn't going to get the Canon VIXIA that so many gurus have, so this is a good alternative :)

I'm still in the market for a good camera though, maggsmakeup recommended the Canon SD780IS a while back, but I've heard that it doesn't autofocus? Hollyannaeree uses that camera as well.

Can't wait to make videos with this, the only problem is, since it's HD and focuses... I can't really film on bad skin days, which is a shame, but maybe some day my skin will get better...

Here's a couple more bad quality shots

Despite the bad quality you get a sense of what it looks like :)

I've also been liking the Icebreaker mints (they're kind of expensive though, in my opinion; ~$2 a pop)

I used to really like the sour flavor, but I think I got over it after going through 2 of them.

Till next time! :)

Yet another ...

* What's your Favorite Makeup Look??
On a daily basis? Curled lashes w/ mascara, maybe eyeliner on the outer corner slightly winged out, then a nice light pink lip, maybe some blush.

* What part of your Body do you Love??
Probably my waist, it's not model thin but it's nicely proportioned against the rest of my body.

* Who is your beauty Icon??
I don't really notice celebrity makeup, but I do love xteeener, she's so genuine and she's really great at tutorials. Oh and she also has similar skin type as me.

* What Beauty Product makes you Feel instantly Good??
Concealer, especially if I have a huge pimple somewhere that's super red

* How do you look after your skin??
I use a lot of things, gel cleanser, toner, acne treatment, moisturizer.
Lately though, I've been using less acne stuff b/c I think my skin adapted to it.
BTW, I found out that night creams make such a big difference to your skin. My skin's been less oily and I found that one of my acne scars that doesn't fade actually faded overnight, weird!

* What is your Signature Scent??
I don't really have one, but a scent I really like is the InStyle Impressions of the Juicy Couture Couture Couture. It smells so feminine and sophisticated, LOVE. I should get a backup of it but I'm just going to use w/e I have up first.

* What's your hair care secrets??
I don't bother with my hair much, it's just straight, I shampoo it every other day (sometimes more frequently, if it feels gross or it was hot that day) and occasionally I'll use conditioner on my ends. For some reason I feel like conditioner makes my hair fall out.

* How do you pamper yourself??
Err, I don't really pamper myself. Never had a facial, never had a massage; hmm...

* How do you have a Beauty Philosophy??
Less is more. This is really cliche but it's true! Use more if you're taking pictures though, usually flash washes people out.

Prizes (from a year ago)

Hi everyone, so about a year or two ago, I won prizes from Jackieam's 100 subscribers contest.
I deleted that video b.c I realized I looked horrible in it, but I took a picture to cherish all the items I "won" since it was one of the highlights of that month, or year.

[Started from left to right, then down]
1. Revlon Matte lipstick in Nude Attitude (no idea when I'll get to use this, I still have the one I originally bought barely used)
2. Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush loose shadow in Deja Blue (haven't used, it looks like a lovely color though)
3. OPI nail polish in Strawberry Margarita (1st OPI nail polish! Still haven't used it actually...)
4. E.L.F. Blush & Bronzer duo (I think this was my first E.L.F. product, if I remember correctly)
5. E.L.F. Complexion brush (great for blush)
6. NYX Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk (technically a backup, I already have one that I haven't even sharpened yet... That's how often I use it)
7. Avon powder in Porcelain
8. Urban Decay Primer Potion sample (I want to get the professional size, but $29 isn't really worth it for someone that rarely wears eyeshadow... Is it?)
9. Avon lipstick in Looking Glass Lilac (worn twice I think, purples don't look good on me =/ )
10. OPI Teenie Bikini South Beach Collection (never used either... I feel like I want to save the good nail polish for important times, which probably will never turn up)
11. NYX Goddess of the Night lip gloss in Orchid (now that I look at it, it's kind of a vampy color, maybe I'll wear it for Halloween :) worn it like once or twice... I don't really like these lip glosses anymore)
12. E.L.F. Dramatic lashes (put them on my lashes without glue to see what they look like; I have to say that false lashes look quite frightening in person)
13. NYX Trio in Baby Pink, Barely There, Cotton Candy
14. Stila Individual lashes (I don't even own real lash glue, so idk when these will be put to use...)
15. Physician's Formula loose powder blushes in Radiant Glow and Natural Glow (which I've misplaced, not included in picture) - these blushes broke me out, unfortunately
16. Physician's Formula eyeshadow in Onyx

Hey! Listing all these almost make it feel like a haul.

Till next time :)

Prom pictures

Here are the pictures I thought I looked decent in, pre-prom, during prom, post-prom. I didn't have that much fun b/c I'm not a huge fan of dancing, I really only go to dress up :P (kind of stupid right? But it's an experience either way) Enjoy!

Pre-prom:

Pre-Prom

Hey guys, so I'm back w/ a blog post again :P
I glued on my artificial nails last night and ... My God it's annoying. I only got one, ONE perfect nail, all the others have bubbles w/in the glue, looks very unnatural. Oh well

You can tell from this picture (I think?) that only my index finger looks professionally done. The others all have bubbles w/in the glue, ugh.
Lesson learned: Use a generous amount of glue!

Cream eyeliner

Hey guys, I haven't really posted in a while, I'm really bad at tending to my blogs b/c I feel like I don't have that much to say, but I've been LOVING cream eyeliner lately, especially now that I bought my Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush. It's amazing, I definitely recommend it if you're not ecstatic about your currently liner brush. I haven't tried it with liquid yet, but ... Can't wait!

Let's Begin

Hello, I am just beginning to blog about makeup and accessories.
I haven't really created a blog before, so I thought it'd be fun to try out
If the blogs are not as informative as you'd like them to be, please tell me; I will try to improve

So let's begin :)
I actually don't have that much makeup right now, given that I usually don't wear makeup on a daily basis. However, I find makeup interesting in that you can use it to contour and make your face look better and even "make" features that are not yours.

For accessories, I own about 20 pairs, give or take, of earrings, about 5 necklaces, and probably 2 or 3 bracelets. Of course, accessories include so much more than jewelery. But for now, I will gather up some more interesting facts and information and include it in the blog tomorrow. Till next time :)

P.S. Just so you know, I am very cheap in that most things I buy are under $20 depending on what kind of product it is; and I am currently a student, so it really is not that bad
