LIPSTICK | Kiko Cosmetics Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 302

In case anyone noticed I haven't posted in a while, it's because I was busy with tax season (I prepare tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals. The deadlines for extensions are in September and October). But also, I've been using Wordpress because the Blogger app is no longer available in the Apple App Store :/ probably because no one really uses it.

Not sure why there's a glaze over my photos... I wiped my lense. Hope I didn't break my phone o_O
The doe foot applicator doesn't carry too much product so you don't accidentally get too much product near your lip line. I likeeee

The lip gloss is a little sheer and not that shiny for my taste. But it's not sticky which is nice.

Obviously I HAD to have this the second I saw it

I rarely see leather on lipsticks and the mint green is so beautiful

This color is a bit too bright for me

It smells like YSL lipstick, which is great bc YSL is my favorite high end lipstick brand

The wear of this product is no joke. Unfortunately, all the color are too unnatural for my taste. This nude is too light, and the other colors are too bright or too dark. The packaging is actually pretty cute, if they expanded the range I would try a different color

MATTE LIPS | Maybelline ColorSensational Inti-Matte Nudes in Naked Coral

I'm not really a nude lip person, but I really like this nude coral color. It's natural looking but still gives your face some color.

LIQUID LIPSTICK | Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in Adorable

As an avid lipstick hoarder, I thought it's appropriate to review a new find I enjoy from the drugstore.

The applicator holds product on both sides, I usually just use 1 side for my entire lips bc it holds plenty.

Adorable is described as a "pink nude beige" on the Milani website.

Pros

Thin, smooth formula

Feels a bit dry when it dries (and looks dry after you eat)

Kind of accentuates lip lines (maybe all matte lipsticks are like this)

Verdict

I was really impressed after trying the Kat Von D (my favorite, review here) and ColourPop liquid lipstick (review here). Milani's formula very thin and easy to spread, although it does feel a bit dry when it dries due to the matte finish.

If you're into the matte liquid lips trend, this one's pretty good

Can you tell that I'm too lazy to put on makeup. Lol I only wear makeup on the weekends now that my skin is better. It's really freeing to wear less makeup (:

Idk why I feel like this is like a greige. But it's just a pinky beige. Much more wearable but I rarely wear these kind of super nude colors now.

Verdict

I was super impressed by this when I tried it at Sephora that I bought it right away even though this isn't usually my go to lip color. $20 isn't too bad for lipstick, although I think the applicator could be better to be more precise. I've heard about Kat Von D lipsticks for a long time, but the colors never intrigued me. Recently Pony Makeup used it in her Shanghai get ready tutorial - but it looks a lot different on her (photo below)

 I usually like to buy high end makeup with some kind of discount but I can totally justify paying full price for this. 

TIP | for liquid lipsticks, don't use a lip oil to prime. I notice the lipstick doesn't dry entirely so it performs as a normal lipstick. Usually after liquid lipsticks dry completely it doesn't transfer.

I think Pony's probably the prettiest makeup artist I've seen. I do question whether she's had work done though. Hmmmmm

This translates to more of a bubblegum pink on me, very pale... Not the most flattering

Verdict

These two lippies did not turn out to to be what I expected, but mixing them seems to make a cute coral color. Unfortunately these are bit high maintenance for me, having to exfoliate my lips and whatnot to make it look perfect... But from afar you can't really tell. I probably wouldn't wear these a lot unless I want to mix it, the two by themselves is a bit unwearable for my taste. 

I tend to reach for moisturizing formulas these days out of laziness

The Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencil contain the same amount of product, which is fine for me since I don't really use up lipstick ever, but a bit misleading in my opinion - usually lipsticks have 3 g in the bullet.

For the price I think it's a good buy if you found a color you really like.

Verdict

Upon first swipe this isn't super pigmented, but it might just be the protective layer the lipstick has on the exterior. Not much to say about this lipstick, standard orange/coral.  

Matte lips are a bit high maintenance unless you religiously exfoliate/moisturize your lips. I used to when I was younger, but I don't really wear lipcolor unless it's for photos. I noticed recently that I mostly reach for moisturizing lipsticks out of convenience. 

I purchased Coral Cat because it's a bright color I'll actually reach for.

Repurchase?

No.

Would I recommend it?

To be honest I don't think the wearable colors in this line are super unique unless you're into purple, dark burgundy or black lipsticks (personally I'd never wear them). I would've tried the red if I didn't already have staple red lipsticks (Maybelline ColorSensational Matte and 24HR wear, swatches here and here).

I feel like sometimes the lip swatches alone doesn't show the effect of the color on your face, so here ya go. I always like to wear oranges/corals as opposed to pinks because they're bright but not TOO bright compared to red lipsticks. Also it just complements my complexion better
